Central Jakarta Sets Three Priority Points for Safe Food

The Central Jakarta administration is collaborating with the Jakarta Food and Drug Monitoring (POM) Center, which will make the coached targets related to food security monitoring at three priority points, which include urban villages, markets and schools.

There will be coaching from BPOM and sub-agencies in the food sector

Central Jakarta Mayor Dhany Sukma said his party would establish food security monitoring in 9 urban villages, 1 traditional market and 65 schools.

"There will be coaching from BPOM and sub-agencies in the food sector," he disclosed, on the sidelines of an audition with Jakarta BPOM in the Mayor's Meeting Room, Tuesday (3/23).

He explained that the coaching would start with the preparation of a design and a survey of needs, potentials, strengths and weaknesses, which would later be made into a single format. Thus when schools return to normal, the food security could be run through a webinar.

Jakarta POM Center Head Safriansyah explained those three priority points were strategic to build community-based food security.

"We are about to train cadres in the market, sub-district and school communities who can independently monitor food security in their respective neighborhoods," he explained.

He added good standards of safe food included free from chemicals, microbes and the dangers of physical pollution.
